About Dan

Dan Nordstrom, LCSW, is the owner of Northstream Counseling & Psychotherapy. While he spends most of his time in Dane, Ashland, Vernon, and Crawford counties, new telehealth remote options allow Dan to work with clients who live anywhere in the state of Wisconsin.

Dan grew up living throughout the United States as well as in Botswana, China, and Ukraine before settling in Wisconsin. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy and religion from Northland College as well as a master's degree in social work from UW-Madison. He is a parent of two children and enjoys cooking, bicycling, and spending time outdoors. Dan's pronouns are he/him/his and he is an ally to LGBTQIA+ individuals. 

Dan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Wisconsin, having been supervised by Dr. James McGloin, Jr., Clinical Director at Madison Mental Health Services.

Dan has over twenty years of experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds throughout Wisconsin in healthcare, hospice, long term care, community based mental health, correctional, and private practice settings. 

Dan is trained and knowledgeable in multiple types of individual, couples, and family counseling and psychotherapy approaches, with specializations in mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). 

Dan is President of the PC Foundation, a Wisconsin based charitable group, and a member of NAMI Dane County and NASW-Wisconsin. Dan also has prior volunteer experience as a SMART Recovery Facilitator in Madison.
